WATCH | Silverton Siege, the film based on true events from South Africa’s Apartheid struggle

Silverton Siege, one of the latest action thriller films to be added to the Netflix streaming platform, takes a flashback into history, inspired by true events from 1980 Apartheid South Africa. The new film Directed by Mandla Dube, tells the story of three freedom fighters who get into a collision course with the South African state after a failed sabotage mission, which turns into a bank hostage standoff. The film is inspired by the real life incident that took place at The Volkskas Bank in Silverton, Pretoria, essentially becoming the catalyst that sparked the global ‘Free Mandela’ movement against Apartheid.
