YouTube Originals and Vogue in partnership with YouTube Black Voices Fund Initiative, have released a documentary series based on the best-selling book by journalist and author Marcellas Reynolds, titled Supreme Models: Iconic Black Women Who Revolutionized Fashion.
The new six part documentary series created by The Machine production company, journeys deep into the cultural history of the Black model in fashion and the black creative voices who all played a pivotal role in opening doors for future people of colour in the fashion industry. To be precise as mentioned by Marcellas Reynolds, the documentary explores “the history of the Black model—specific to fashion—is actually the history of the Black person in the United States.”
